Intro to Sailing – $125

4 Hours. Prerequisites: None. A very basic introduction to sailboats and sailing, safety, points of sail and docking in a 27 foot sailboat for up to 4 people. Get out on the water and find out what sailing is about. Daily from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.  Reservations recommended.

ASA Sailing Classes

At East Carolina Sailing School, we are committed to your success. We understand that it is difficult to pick up everything you want to know and feel confident taking a sailboat out on your own after just one class.  That is why we allow you to come back and retake our classes two more times, on a space available basis, with no additional charge. Basic Keelboat Sailing 101 – $495

$100 deposit reserves your class!

3 Days. Prerequisites: None. Learn to sail using a Capri 22 or Catalina 22 sailboat in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar water without supervision. A preparatory standard with no previous experience necessary. Weekend schedule is Friday: 10a.m.- 6 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Weekday schedule: Monday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday & Wednesday: 9 a.m-5 p.m.  Includes training materials, logbook, test and certification.

Basic Coastal Cruising 103 – $495

3 Days. Prerequisite: 101. Students will learn to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on a Hunter 27, in moderate conditions. Weekend schedule is Friday: 10a.m.- 6 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Weekday schedule: Monday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Tuesday & Wednesday: 9 a.m-5 p.m. Includes training materials, logbook, test and certification plus ASA membership.

Bareboat Chartering 104 – $995

4 Days. Prerequisites: 101 & 103. An advanced standard for individuals with cruising experience. Completion will prepare you to act as skipper or crew of a 30 to 50-foot sailboat by day in coastal waters aboard our Irwin Citation 34. The course includes systems and maintenance procedures.  Includes training materials, logbook, test and certification plus ASA membership.

Combo Classes

Skipper Package – $1795

Payment in full reserves your class.

Prerequisites: None  – Obtain your ASA 101, 103 & 104 certifications. Classes must be taken one after another,  spread out over the season with additional practice in between classes. Students can combine 103 and 104 into one 5 day class if desired. Includes training materials, logbook, test and certification plus ASA membership.

Coastal Cruising Package – $1295

Payment in full reserves your class.

Prerequisites: ASA 101 - Obtain your ASA 103 & 104 certifications.  Classes can be combined into one 5 day course or can be taken one after another spread out over the season with additional practice in between classes. Includes training materials, logbook, test and certification plus ASA membership.
