1 day. Prerequisites: None. A basic introduction to sailboats and sailing, safety, points of sail, tacking, jibing, man overboard and docking. Get out on the water and find out what sailing is about. Offered Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Offered through the Boat Bumz Cruising Academy and a prerequisite for Crew Membership in the Boat Bumz Sailing Club

Tiller Time!
Basic Keelboat Sailing 101 – $495 $420
$100 deposit reserves your class!
2 Day. Prerequisites: None. Learn to sail using a Capri 22 sailboat with tiller and outboard motor in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar water without supervision. A preparatory standard with no previous experience necessary. Schedule is Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification as well as ASA membership and 2 days of free rentals. A prerequisite for Skipper Membership in the Boat Bumz Sailing Club

Basic Coastal Cruising 103 – $495 $420

2 Days. Prerequisite: 101. Students will learn to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on a Hunter 27 with wheel, inboard diesel and roller furling, in moderate conditions. Weekend schedule is Saturday & Sunday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification and 2 days of free rentals.

Bareboat Chartering 104 – $995 $845
$100 deposit reserves your class!
3 Days/2 Nights. Prerequisites: 101 & 103. An advanced standard for individuals with cruising experience. Completion will prepare you to act as skipper or crew of a 30 to 50-foot sailboat by day in coastal waters aboard our Irwin Citation 34 or equivalent and departs and arrives at Morehead City Yacht Basin, Morehead City, NC. The course includes systems and maintenance procedures.Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification and 1 day of free rental. A prerequisite for Overnight Skipper Membership in the Boat Bumz Sailing Club

Coastal Navigation (ASA 105) – $375 $318 Online
$100 deposit reserves your class!
2 Weeks Online Prerequisites: None. Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. There is no Sailing Skills part to this Standard and practical application of this sailing knowledge is found in the Advanced Coastal Cruising Standard (ASA 106) . Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification.
Advanced Coastal Cruising (ASA 106) – $995 $845
3 Days/2 nights. Prerequisites: 101, 103, 104 & 105. An advanced standard for individuals with cruising experience. Able to safely act as skipper and crew of a sailing vessel about 30 to 50 feet in length. This is a day and nighttime Standard in coastal and inland water, in any weather and includes night time sailing aboard our Irwin Citation 34 and is offered in either Beaufort, NC or Ocracoke, NC. The course includes systems and maintenance procedures. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification and 2 days of free rentals.
Docking Endorsement (ASA 118) – $225 $191
1 Day. Prerequisites: 101 An advanced standard for individuals with sailing experience. This hands-on course allows students to learn theory and practice repetitive docking and casting-off maneuvers to reinforce understanding of theory, methods and skills. Both novice and experienced sailors will benefit from this course as the techniques apply to small outboard powered boats in the 15- to 20-foot range on up to 50-foot inboard single-screw cruising yachts. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification.
Combo Classes
Skipper Package - $1795 $1525

Prerequisites: None – Obtain your ASA 101, 103, 104 certifications. Classes taken separately would cost $1990*, bundled together you save over $400! Classes can be taken one after another, spread out over the season with additional practice in between classes. Students can combine 103 and 104 into one 5 day class if desired. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certifications and 5 days of free rentals.
Coastal Cruising Package - $1350 $1145

Prerequisites: ASA 101 - Obtain your ASA 103 & 104 certifications. Classes can be combined into one 5 day course or can be taken one after another spread out over the season with additional practice in between classes. Advanced Coastal Cruising Package – $1250 $1,062

Prerequisites: ASA 101, 103, 104 - Obtain your ASA 105 & 106 certifications. Classes can be combined into one 5 day course or can be taken one after another spread out over the season with additional practice in between classes. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certification and 2 days of free rentals.
Couple’s or Buddies Combo – $1500 $1,275 – Stay Aboard

3 Days/2 Nights. Prerequisite: none. Earn your ASA 101 & 103 certifications. Designed for couples or close friends who will be sailing together. Students will learn to cruise safely in local and regional waters as both skipper and crew on a Hunter 27 with wheel, inboard diesel and roller furling, in moderate conditions. Schedule your classes at your convenience : 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Includes taxes, training materials, logbook, test and certifications for both persons and 2 days of free rentals apiece.
