Driving From Points South (Wilmington, New Bern)
Take U.S. 17 North. Washington is about 30 miles north of New Bern. As you come into Washington, you will cross over the Pamlico River on the Highway 17 bridge. If you look slightly to your right as you go over the bridge, you will see the docks and sailboat masts at the Carolina Wind Yachting Center, location of East Carolina Sailing School. Turn east onto Main Street at the foot of the bridge, go to the second parking lot on the right (past our two historic red brick buildings...look for a flagpole and a crab sculpture) and turn in.
Driving From Points West (Greensboro, Raleigh)
Take U.S. 64 East from Raleigh. Several miles east of Raleigh, exit to the right onto U.S. 264 East toward Wilson and Greenville. Continue on U.S. 264 East all the way to Washington. You will go through several traffic lights on the outskirts of Greenville. U.S. 264 takes a left turn at the fifth light. Continue on U.S. 264 East into Washington (which is renamed 5th Street inside the city limits). At the intersection of U.S. 264 and U.S. 17, turn right (or south) onto highway 17 and proceed toward the river. You will cross Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, 3rd Street, and 2nd Street. Go to the next intersection just before the bridge and turn east onto Main Street. Turn into the second parking lot on the right (the entrance to the Carolina Wind Yachting Center, location of East Carolina Sailing School. Look for a flagpole and a crab sculpture). The school is at ground level next to the water.
Driving From Points North (Norfolk, Elizabeth City)
Take U.S. 17 South. Williamston is about 22 miles north of Washington. As you come into Washington, you will cross Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, 3rd Street, and 2nd Street. Go to the next intersection just before the bridge and turn east onto Main Street. Turn into the second parking lot on the right (the entrance to the Carolina Wind Yachting Center, location of East Carolina Sailing School. Look for a flagpole and a crab sculpture). The school is at ground level next to the water.

Driving From Points East (Hatteras, Nags Head)
Take U.S. 64 West from the Outer Banks to Williamston, about 22 miles north of Washington. At Williamston, take U.S. 17 South all the way to Washington. As you come into Washington, when you intersect U.S. 17, turn left or south on 17. As you come into Washington, you will cross Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, 3rd Street, and 2nd Street. Go to the next intersection just before the bridge and turn east onto Main Street. Turn into the second parking lot on the right (the entrance to the Carolina Wind Yachting Center, location of East Carolina Sailing School. Look for a flagpole and a crab sculpture). The school is at ground level next to the water.
